The Destruction of Sennacherib By

[[/poet/lord-byron|Lord Byron (George Gordon)]]

this is my poem that I am doing for the competition. Trust me this isnt my final though. I have worked on it enough that i am confident that I will adress the message well enough for the people who are listening to understand.

‍The Assyrian came down like the wolf on the fold,
And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;
And the sheen of their spears was like stars on the sea,
When the blue wave rolls nightly on deep Galilee.

Like the leaves of the forest when Summer is green,
That host with their banners at sunset were seen:
Like the leaves of the forest when Autumn hath blown,
That host on the morrow lay withered and strown.

For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed;
‍And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,
And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!

And there lay the steed with his nostril all wide,
But through it there rolled not the breath of his pride;
And the foam of his gasping lay white on the turf,
And cold as the spray of the rock-beating surf.

And there lay the rider distorted and pale,
With the dew on his brow, and the rust on his mail:
And the tents were all silent, the banners alone,
The lances unlifted, the trumpet unblown.

And the widows of Ashur are loud in their wail,
And the idols are broke in the temple of Baal;
And the might of the Gentile, unsmote by the sword,
Hath melted like snow in the glance of the Lord!

Remember Me
By Matt

Remember me when the time is right
When you are all alone
I will save you from the night

‍The moon in the sky is stained with white
when there is a sad message on the phone
‍Remember me when the time is right

When you need me for a fight
when your mother is late and you’re on your own
I will save you from the night

I will be your hero, I will be your knight
Do everything you can, make your courage shown
Remember me when the time is right

I will be with you even if I am not in your sight
I can look in your eyes and see how much you have grown
I will save you from the night

you spread your wings and go into flight
I can tell your almost a man from what you have shown
Remember me when the time is right
I will save you from the night

The Brick in the Wall
By Matt

‍I AM …The Brick in the wall
I WONDER …if anybody notices my importance
I HEAR …The laughter of children and the sway of trees
I SEE …my partners around me all doing their part
I WORRY …if I will be the first one to give in
I WANT …To be strong

I PRETEND …As if I am part of the Earth once again a piece of dirt
I FEEL …Weak
I TOUCH …the cold air of winter
I WORRY …how much longer
I CRY …help[m2]
I AM …The Brick in the Wall

I UNDERSTAND …Why people don’t notice me
I SAY … One day we will no longer hold this building
I DREAM …OF the weight on my body being released
I HOPE …For it soon to be all over
I AM …The brick in the wall

The Light
By Matt

What would you see if your life flashed before your eyes?
Would it be your marriage or your grandma’s home baked pie?
Your mind remembers things that seem so peculiar
Maybe even things that don’t seem familiar
What would you see if your life flashed before your eyes?
Would it be the day you broke the record mile?
Or you’re first born child?
Your mind is unpredictable
I hope that you still find it dependable
What would you see if your life flashed before your eyes?
Would it be worth remembering when your heart slowly dies?
